50s - 60s school days

Punishment at school and home, 50s-90s

In this era, it was normal to see teachers being allowed to throw things like chalkboard erasers, chalk and rulers and sometimes books at students who seemed inattentive or misbehaving. The educational system appeared to rely on using physical punishment on children in this era and thus intentionally. If a teacher noticed non compliant behavior from students, they aimed to address it immediately by these acts in order to prevent it from occurring again and discourage others. Both at school and at home.
